The Mid-State Technical College Foundation, Inc., recently added two new members to its board of directors.

Brian DeWitt, commercial manager of ERCO Worldwide (USA) Inc., was elected to the board along with Kate Giblin, senior center manager of the Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Portage County.

Dewitt holds degrees in accounting and business administration from UW-Stevens Point and an MBA from UW-Oshkosh, as well as CPA and CMA designations. He started his career in the internal audit and statutory accounting departments at Sentry Insurance, eventually working as controller of Wausau Paper’s Rhinelander Paper Mill and VP of finance and part-owner at Gamber-Johnson, LLC. Today, in addition to his role as commercial manager at ERCO Worldwide, he also serves on the board of directors of the United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties.

Giblin holds bachelor’s degrees in anthropology and art history. She worked as a claims adjuster at Sentry Insurance for 10 years, followed by several years as a foreclosure and default counselor at Associated Bank.  After attaining her gerontology AAS from Mid-State in 2017, she began working for the ADRC of Portage County, where she served in a variety of roles prior to her promotion to senior center manager. 

Giblin currently serves as an emergency medical responder volunteer on the Rudolph Fire Department and is a certified sexual assault victim's advocate and volunteer at CAP Services out of Portage and Waupaca Counties. She also serves on the United Way's Mental Health Initiative Planning Committee.

The Mid-State Foundation board of directors is a volunteer board of business and community leaders who believe in the College and its mission. The board sets the strategic course for the Mid-State Foundation and plays a key role in its implementation and execution, including investments in student success and support for the Mid-State Technical College Strategic Plan through the generosity of donors. 

Other members of the Mid-State Foundation board include Mary Jo Green (president), Nekoosa; Lisa Rowe-Peplinski (immediate past president), Wisconsin Rapids; Sue Miller (secretary), Port Edwards; Tom Ekelin (Treasurer), Wisconsin Rapids; Marg Coker-Nelson, Stevens Point; James Shewchuk, Wisconsin Rapids; Larry Turba, Wisconsin Rapids; and Heather Huebner, Plover.
