Mid-State announces $5,000 ‘Big Decision Scholarship’ for high school seniors

April 2, 2025

Applications are now being accepted for Mid-State Technical College’s $5,000 “Big Decision Scholarship.” The scholarship is a limited-time opportunity for 2025 high school seniors undecided on their path after graduation to help make the decision easier.

To be eligible, applicants must be graduating high school in 2025 and admitted to Mid-State. Funding for the scholarship is provided by the Mid-State Technical College Foundation, Inc. The scholarship winner will be announced at the Admit Day celebration on Friday, May 2, on the Wisconsin Rapids Campus.

“We're thrilled to bring the Big Decision Scholarship back this year,” said Jackie Esselman, dean of Recruitment and Admissions. “The $5,000 award significantly helps with the cost of education at Mid-State and will cover the full tuition for many of our programs and certificates. It's an incredible opportunity that graduating high school seniors won't want to miss.”

"Choosing a college and career path can feel overwhelming, which is why the Big Decision Scholarship was designed to help ease the transition from high school to college," said Micki Dirks-Luebbe, director of Foundation and Alumni. "Scholarships like this are made possible through the generosity of our donors and the leadership of our Foundation Board, who are dedicated to supporting our mission of investing in student success."
