Mid-State to host third annual Central Wisconsin Farm Profitability Expo
Mid-State Technical College will host the third annual Central Wisconsin Farm Profitability Expo on Wednesday, April 24, at the Wisconsin Rapids Campus from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This in-person event is free to participants, thanks to funding provided by the Wood County Land and Water Conservation. Registration is required.
The Farm Profitability Expo is designed to encourage profitable farming by building resiliency, diversifying farming operations, reducing inputs and increasing a farmer’s return on investment.
Attendees will learn about best-management practices farmers can use to take advantage of what nature has to offer and increase self-sufficiency on the farm, such as regenerative management, managed grazing, cover and companion crops and no-till farming. They will also explore the specific barriers central Wisconsin farmers are experiencing when adopting best management practices through discussion with fellow farmers who have implemented these practices.
The Farm Profitability Expo is the result of a partnership with UW-Madison Extension, Wisconsin Potato Vegetable Growers Association, regional watershed groups, nonprofit organizations, Land and Water Conservation staff and agricultural and natural resource specialists.
