Mid-State introduces scholarships to highlight AMETA Center opportunities

December 12, 2023

Applications are now being accepted for Mid-State Technical College’s new Bright Future Scholarships. The scholarships are available for four select School of Applied Technology programs to be housed at the Wayne H. Bushman Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, and Apprenticeship (AMETA™) Center in Stevens Point upon its opening in fall 2024.

New students starting the Automation & Instrumentation Technology, Civil Engineering Technology-Highway Technician, Metal Fabrication or Welding programs this spring are eligible. These programs are currently located on Mid-State’s Wisconsin Rapids Campus but will transition to the brand new, state-of-the-art AMETA™ Center in fall 2024.

“At the AMETA Center students will have the opportunity to train on advanced manufacturing equipment commonly found in the fast-growing industry 4.0 marketplace,” said Ryan Kawski, dean of the School of Applied Technology. “Mid-State has made a significant investment in technologies that will help train the workforce that industry is looking for.”

“The Bright Future Scholarships give students a head start on their programs before being among the first class to study at the AMETA Center,” said Jackie Esselman, dean of Recruitment and Admissions. “These scholarships cover over half of the costs associated with these programs. Because careers in manufacturing are in high demand in our community, it is a great time to get started on an advanced manufacturing or engineering technology program at Mid-State.”

Eligible students can earn up to $5,000 over three semesters toward their degree: $1,000 in spring 2024, $1,500 in fall 2024 and $2,500 in spring 2025. The Bright Future Scholarships are available through funding provided by the State of Wisconsin Workforce Innovation Grant.

Applications will be accepted until Monday, Jan. 22. Learn more and apply at mstc.edu/bright-future.
