Testing Center: GED or HSED Testing

Adults who have not completed high school may obtain a GED certificate or a High School Equivalency Diploma in the State of Wisconsin.

Eligibility:

To start the process, you must be 18 years of age and not enrolled in high school.
bullet
To begin testing, you must be 18 years 6 months of age or your high school class must have graduated.
bullet
You must be a legal resident of the state of Wisconsin.
   
To pay the $15 credential fee and register for a mandatory Orientation Session, call or visit the campus nearest you:

Costs:
bullet
$15 credential fee paid at the time of Orientation registration
bullet
$15 per test, for a minimum of $75
bullet
Additional fees may apply is you retest or pursue an HSED

On the day of the test:

Bring a photo ID
bullet
Bring your receipt showing that you paid for your test(s)
bullet
No food, drinks, books, papers, calculators, listening devices (music), cell phones, hats, purses, etc. will be allowed in the testing room. (MSTC is not responsible for lost or stolen items.)

Pens, pencils, and scratch paper will be provided
bullet
If an exam requires a calculator, one will be provided.

Scores:

Minimum passing score per test is 410. Total of all five tests must be 2250 minimum.

Test scores can not be provided over the telephone or via email.
   
Retesting:
bullet
Retesting is allowed at $15 per test.
bullet
You must wait 30 days before repeating a GED test.
bullet
You must wait 60 days before repeating the Health or Civics HSED test.

Transcripts:
If you need a duplicate diploma or wish to receive an official transcript from DPI, you must submit an order form to the Department of Public Instruction.

There is a $15 fee for the diploma or transcript. Turnaround time is 7-10 days.

If you completed your GED or HSED with MSTC and need an official transcript, you must contact MSTC in writing with all of the following information:

The name and complete mailing address to whom you want the transcript released.

Your complete name (and the name used at the time of testing)
bullet
Your Social Security Number
bullet
Your date of birth
bullet
Your current mailing address and telephone number
bullet
Your approximate date of credential completion
bullet
Your signature
 
There is no fee to request a GED/HSED transcript from MSTC if you completed the GED or HSED with us. Turnaround time is five days.
