Cosmetology & Barbering Instructor in the Service & Health Division at Mid-State Technical College.  This is a full-time position with 1,575 hours scheduled over a 12-month fiscal year; work hours may vary from traditional daytime schedule.  Position reports to the Service & Health Division Dean.

October 2008 or earlier

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Teach theoretical and clinical courses in cosmetology and barbering.  Assist in program planning, curriculum development, and on-going program maintenance and growth.  Responsible for classroom management, student evaluation, and records maintenance.  Assist with program promotion and student recruitment, registration, advisement, and placement.  Assist with program budget development; ordering and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and other inventory; advisory committees; and co-curricular student activities.  Maintain technical skills to current industry standards.  Be familiar with and follow the cosmetology and barbering requirements of the Wisconsin Department of Regulation & Licensing.  Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; discipline-related Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Wisconsin Department of Regulation & Licensing current cosmetology instructor's license.
  • Minimum of seven years of occupational experience as a licensed cosmetologist.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
  • Must work well as a team member.
  • Must be able to demonstrate good organizational skills, positive interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills in educating adult learners.

SALARY:  Dependent upon qualifications, but consistent with current salary schedule.
