New Employees at MSTC

Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) has hired eight new employees: April Hartjes, Beth Howard, Sara Huibregtse, Marty Reinhardt, Nancy Schaperkotter, Marie Schmeider, Mike Schultz and Lea Ann Turner.

   
April Hartjes

Hartjes, Stevens Point, is an Early Childhood Education Instructor. For the past 16 years, she worked for Waupaca County Early Intervention Program as the service coordinator, educator and program director. Additionally, she gained experience as an instructor at Utah State University teaching courses related to sensory impairment in early childhood. Hartjes earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP), a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and a bachelor’s degree in Humanistic Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She is pursuing a master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education.

   
Beth Howard

Howard, Auburndale, is an Academic Support Center Instructor. Most recently, she was a professional math tutor and summer lecturer in the Learning Center at University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County. Prior to that, she gained teaching experience as a mathematics teacher for Lincoln High School and a substitute teacher for the Auburndale School District. Howard earned a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from UWSP.

   
Sarah Huibregtse

Huibregtse, Plover, is an Instructional Technology Coordinator. She is responsible for promoting, integrating and serving as a resource for instructional technologies with a special emphasis in providing ITV facilitator and instructor training. Most recently, she was a computer science teacher and served as the administrator, support and trainer for the New Berlin West and Eisenhower Middle and High Schools. Prior to that, she was employed with API Software as a training specialist and at Cedar Grove-Belgium Elementary School as a fourth grade teacher. Additionally, Huibregtse taught courses at Madison Area and Lakeshore Technical Colleges. She also served six years in the U.S. Navy and Wisconsin National Army Guard. Huibregtse earned a master’s degree in Computer Science Education from Cardinal Stritch University and a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Computer Science from Lakeland College.

   
Martin Reinhardt

Reinhardt, Wisconsin Rapids, is a Sociology Instructor. Most recently, he worked as an outreach Specialist and distance learning advisor at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Additionally, he is the CEO and an American Indian education specialist for Reinhardt & Associates, which provides educational services in the areas of race, gender, national origin and English language acquisition. His other professional experiences include director of the Center for Native American Studies at Northern Michigan University, director of Native American programs at Central Michigan University and vice president for Diversity and Research for Educational Options, Inc. Reinhardt earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Pennsylvania State University, a master’s degree in Sociology from Central Michigan University and bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Lake Superior State University.

   
Nancy Schaperkotter

Schaperkotter, Stevens Point, is the Director of Student Support. She develops and manages various functions, systems and processes that promote and support student success. Most recently, she was employed at Employee Resource Center in Wausau as an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Counselor. Prior to that, she spent ten years as the EAP Director at Marshfield Clinic. She also was a Director of Social Services at Two/Ten International Footwear Foundation in Watertown, Massachusetts. Schaperkotter earned a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics/Family Relations from Central Michigan University and a master’s degree from the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago.

   
Marie Schmieder

Schmieder, Camp Douglas, is the Manager of Grants Development. She works collaboratively with staff, various College partners and external funding sources to advance priorities and goals through grant development and management. For the past eleven years, she was self-employed as a work services provider and vocational counselor providing vocational rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities. Additionally, Schmieder was self-employed as a grant writer for several counties in Wisconsin. Prior to that, she was the founder and director of Community Based Employment Services, Inc. where she was responsible for grant writing, staff training, contract negotiation and program development. Schmeider earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and a master’s degree in Industrial Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

   
Michael Schultz

Schultz, Wisconsin Rapids, is the Industrial Mechanical Technology Instructor. He has over twenty-five years of industry experience holding positions as millwright, machinist and welder for Hasselblad Machine Company, Kendall Healthcare Products and Medalcraft Mint. His teaching experience includes five years of Technology Education and Industrial Technology instruction at Hutchinson Middle School and Greenway Schools in Minnesota and Chetek Public Schools. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Career and Technical Education from Bemidji State University, MN.

   
Lea Ann Turner

Turner, Wisconsin Rapids, is an Instructional Technology Coordinator. She is responsible for promoting, integrating and serving as a resource for instructional technologies with an emphasis on online, hybrid and web-enhanced courses. For the past six years, she worked as a teacher, instructional technologist and webmaster for Temple Independent School District in Temple, Texas. Prior to that, she spent twelve years teaching in the public school districts in Texas. Turner earned a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Academics from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and currently is pursuing a master’s degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

   
Rick Anderson

Rick Anderson, Wautoma, has accepted the position of Service & Health Division Associate Dean. In this position, he manages the development, coordination and supervision of various educational activities related to Emergency Medical Services throughout the MSTC District. Previously, Anderson was an instructor in the EMT-Paramedic program since 2003. Prior to joining MSTC, he was employed for eleven years with Waushara County Emergency Services and held the positions of assistant director, emergency planning coordinator and emergency medical technician. He held the position of chief of police for the Coloma Police Department and served as the volunteer fire chief for the Coloma Fire & Rescue Department. Anderson earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Administration from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine and a master’s degree in Disaster Medicine and Management from Philadelphia University.
